More solar madness

Looks like everyone's interested in the solar business these days. Again, this seems great, though I have to admit that even I am showing a little bit too much interest in solar power right now. It's only going to carry us so far.

Furthermore, I'd like to know a few more technical details as to why this "3d solar cell" has trouble producing acceptable voltage levels versus traditional cells. Isn't this something that can be overcome with step-up voltage converters? Maybe I'm just being ignorant here.

One of these days, an ideal solar solution will be crowned king and will see mass-deployment on a scale much wider than that enjoyed by existing PV cells. The question is, what will that be?

Whileyou are scratching your head and hiding your wallet giga-watts of solar electric systems are going in...all those who own a good size system are insulated from rising energy costs and rising commodity costs (including solar cell price increases that have been going on for near 5-years now). Let the government feed you electricity by the spoonful and see where it takes you into the future. Sunlight has always powered the planet. But, oil and coal have been very, very cheap...too bad we are burning it all up at an ever increasing rate. What more can you ask for than a piece of glass that when placed in direct sun will produce electricity without fuel for decades??? Now you want them cheap?? The fuel is already free...the new thin film stuff is garbage compared to the good poly and mono crystalline silicon cells...but it is a little cheaper!! Enjoy the ozone and partculates from burning the 'cheap' fossil fuels and be ready for more kids to develop cronic respiratory ailments while you refuse to adapt or use the abundant renewable energy that God gives us...
