Glucose as a petroleum replacement?
Wouldn't it be nice if we could create products currently derived from petroleum out of common plant matter? Glucose derived from plant cellulose - a substance we currently discard in enormous quantities in the form of grass clippings, chaff, corn stalks, fallen leaves, and other plant waste - may be the key to beating our petroleum habit in the short term.
